This year I decided to choose for myself a guiding word. I was inspired by my friend Robert Kennedy III’s blog to choose a guiding word for 2019.
A word that would describe my goals for 2019. A word that I can look back to as a reminder of who I want to be and what I want to do in 2019.
My one word for 2019 is COMMITTED.
This past year I started or intended to start a lot of things. This year, I’m comitting to finish what I start. I’m committing to turn some weaknesses into strengths. I’m committing to not making excuses. Some of these commitments began in 2018 and I want them to carry them into and perfect in 2019.
Committed to Rest

I picked Social Life and Good Grades cause who needs sleep.
That mindset worked out back then but it’s not sustainable for me anymore. College ruined my sleeping habits and they haven’t gotten any better since graduating. My fatigue really has a domino effect on a lot of areas of my life. I’m more tempted, less focused, and less motivated when I’m tired.
Action Steps: Develop a Night Time Routine & Reorganize my Room for Maximum Sleeping Comfort
Committed to a Morning Routine
My morning routine sets the tone for the rest of my day. If my morning consists of prayer, sweat, and a good breakfast then I feel like I’m more productive and ready to conquer the world. I’ve been doing this the past 3 months and want to carry it into 2019.
Action Steps: Maintain a morning that increases productivity.
Committed to Relationship
In case you didn’t know, I recently got engaged!
I’ll be writing about that SOON.
But with wedding planning, time is valuable. As me and my fiance are preparing for the wedding I don’t want either of us to put growing in our relationship on pause.
So In 2019 I’m committing to spending time (her love language) with her and really investing in our relationship.
Action Steps: I’m committing to spending 10-15 hours* of quality time with her where I’m giving her my full attention.

Committed to Grow
A lot of different areas of my life involve leadership and communication. Whether it’s leading a project at my workplace, leading a ministry or leading myself. I want to grow and become an even more effective leader and communicator in 2019.
Action Steps: Finish 26 books in 2019. (1 per 2 weeks on avg.) Attend 1 Leadership Conference.
Committed to Share
I love writing and telling stories. These last few months I’ve had so many experiences ideas float through my head, wrote them out in my phone, but never shared. In 2019 I’m committing to share my story through writing on this blog and even YouTube Videos.

Committed to Accountability
This is usually where New Years Resolutions fall apart. There’s usually no one around to keep you accountable. The only way I’m going to be able to keep the commitments I previously mentioned is through accountability. I’ve given certain individuals permission to ask me anything from how my relationship is going to whether I’ve been going to the gym.
Committed to Adventure
I’m trying to have fun in 2019. Each month I will do something that pushes me outside of my comfort zone. I will try 1 new thing that looks like it may be fun makes me nervous or uncomfortable. First thing on the list: Learn to Swim
